Powder Coatings

Powder coatings create a hard finish, tougher than conventional paint, and are primarily used for coating metals. A powder coating is made using a free-flowing dry powder, which is electrostatically applied and is then cured under heat to allow it to crosslink and form a more durable finish. Powder coatings are great because the coating process emits close to zero volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and produces less hazardous waste than conventional liquid coatings.

You’ve probably seen the result of architectural powder coatings before. It’s a widely popular technique and has been used on thousands of commercial, industrial, governmental, residential, historic and institutional buildings around the world. Powder coating has been the finish of choice at PTF for over 20 years. It provides for a superior, more colorful, longer lasting, and more durable finish.

There are many reasons for the outstanding popularity and performance of powder coatings. It has many advantages: durability, scratch resistance, gloss retention, weatherability, chalking resistance, as well as an unlimited range of colors, finishes, glosses and textures. Another plus is the fact that the process both meets AAMA specifications and is environmentally-friendly. It’s perfect for sustainable or green building projects that incorporate low-emitting products.
